The report of the commission appointed to investigate whether there is a need for a state-of-the-art economic model for constructing highways in the country.
Namine Wijedasa has reported on Monday in the Sunday Times
The Government has focused on the necessity of a combination of state and private sectors in the form of highways in the country.
Accordingly, the Economic Advisory Cabinet Subcommittee has been advised to appoint a committee and take recommendations before proceeding to the final decision.
It is the responsibility of the 6-member committee appointed by the Road Development Authority to prepare a report on the expenses incurred on road development, administrative expenses, and expenses necessary for road surveillance for the next 10 years.
The committee's report also noted that there is no need for a state-friendly economic model in relation to the highways and with the Bank of Ceylon for a high-speed road investment.
It is said that in the next 10 years, we will be able to get great development through the highways.
However, the Government continued to focus on the importance of the state and private integration program.
The Prime Minister, who attended the Asia Pacific Trade Conference recently in Dhaka, commented on a state and private partnership strategy.
